Old Navy Mannequins, Part 467

Ok. The Old Navy mannequin commercials are GETTING WORSE. It's like a train wreck, only I have no problem looking away. Pregnant mannequins? Naked mannequins? Mannequins losing body parts? Yuck, yuck and triple yuck.

A lot of people are afraid of clowns. I lump these into the same category. They are nightmare inducing for small children and people like me.

Again, perhaps there is something successful about these commercials because they are noticable, memorable and identifiable for their specific brand. Sometimes bad commercials are great for business. I am curious to see Old Navy's sales reports after this campaign. Does anyone know if Old Navy's sales are up the past couple months? Does anyone ACTUALLY LIKE these commercials? Anyone not hate them? Thoughts? Please discuss....

Does anyone actually shop at Old Navy?! Seriously, who is buying this stuff? I must say though, I would probably shop there if every guys shirt or sweater they sold didn't have OLD NAVY pasted across the front in giant, arching capital letters!!! I would prefer an Old Navy shirt that doesn’t scream “I’m an Old Navy shirt”. Also since the last two posts have covered Nick shows and mannequins, does anyone remember that show way back in the day on Nick called “Today’s Special”? It had a mannequin in some scary dept. store that would come to life after you put his dumb hat on his head.

I shop at Old Navy for cheap tank tops and shorts. I don't watch tv ads, so I can't say the mannequins have had much of an effect. I think that you are obsessing over this, my friend, as I rarely encounter them in my daily doings. I still think that they're effective. Creepy, but effective.

HAHA.
PS-I think I said "effective" way too many times in my comment. So here is one more for good measure.

Does anyone remember the Seinfeld episode where there is a mannequin that looks like Elaine in the dept. store where George is buying his swishy pants suit? It is one of the better Seinfeld’s which is saying a lot !!

BTW the "word verification" I had to type in in order to post this comment was "puntjama". Now that is a funny word, and I will be using it in everyday convo from now on!! Not sure how or in what context, but I’ll find a way to include it!!

Anon. I TOTALLY remember that episode - "I call her Elaine". It was the guy from the subway with the TV guide - which he made into a bouquet! How totally sweet! Anon, would you make a bouquet like that for me?
