$4 Coffee?

Ok, with the state of the economy - everyone comments on how Starbucks is in danger, people aren't going to keep spending $4 on coffee, etc. I do agree with that Starbucks' profit margin is a a little absurd. However, I have never had a problem with Starbucks (with the exception of their overly-chatty baristas), because I have always looked at them more as something to do. They are a good place to meet a friend or have a first date - and compared with other options, spending $4 at a coffee house is pretty much cheaper than all other options for 'going out somewhere' (movies, going out to eat, drinks, etc.). So, I am going to make a very non-scientific and possibly inaccurate prediction that for the morning crew that Starbucks is losing - they may be gaining more evening guests and therefore might be ok in this horrible economy. At least I hope they will. :)

Sorry - slow news day.

Actually, Starbuck's coffee is not $4 if you get their regular house brew. I have done that several times, and the price difference between a large McDonald's cup and a Venti Starbuck's cup is negligible. It's about $2. Of course, if you're going to order a double mocha venti whipped cream shot of hazelnut latte, I think you should pay the money and not complain about it. Or if you order a 1,000 calorie Frappucino. I stopped buying coffee in the morning in favor of making my own tea. I figured I'd save the money for when I do go out with a friend. So I agree with you-I think Starbucks is worth it, especially the pleasant atmosphere and the fact that they don't kick you out if you want to stay there.
