The Coca-Cola Polar Bears

Ok, so I first noticed an ad for these lovely Coca-Cola polar bears during the superbowl.  Actually, 'first noticed' is inaccurate.  I know this is a really old campaign.  And by really old, I mean like 15+ years.  I remember back in the 7th grade having a sweatshirt with these bears on it and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.  I kind of wish I still had it right now.  My mom probably has it as dust rag.  Tear.  That just hurts me too much to think about.

Anyhow.  I am curious why Coca-Cola chose to revive this ad campaign.  Was it for the sake of nostalgia?  Has it always been around over the past 15 years and I just didn't notice?  I'm sure if I really cared, I could do some research.  There's probably a very thorough wikipedia page on the matter.

Anyhow.  I love all things 'nostalgia'.  I love things that remind me of my childhood.  I think this was good decision on Coca-Cola's part.  Who doesn't love a good polar bear?  These guys are so cute and cuddly.  If anything, these ads make me smile.  Maybe it's time to go grab a coke.

28!

So I am now 28.  It's hard to believe.  It hasn't really set in yet.

I'm not really sure what to expect, but I never like to go in blind.  I would have read my horoscope, but I'm not even sure what sign I am these days.  So, I went to the source of all info, google, and searched for 28.  It immediately directed me to 28's Wikipedia page!  I, too, did not know 28 merited its own Wikipedia page, but I guess we learn something new every day!  I am most drawn to the fact that it's the second perfect number and the fourth magic number (perhaps signifying a perfect, magic year?).    I'd like to disregard the fact that someone felt the need to mention it's also the length of the average menstrual cycle.  Sigh.  I guess this is what we get with Wiki.

So what should I expect from 28?  Should I treat this like New Year's and make some resolutions?  Or maybe some goals, since resolutions get broken?  Hmm.  What are your thoughts?  Any wisdom from those who've already been there?  Please share!

I Call Being Frannie (Thanks for the Lead, Courtney)....

Looks like our little "My Boys" star, Jordana Spiro (aka PJ Franklin), has a new show coming up, called
'Love Bites'.

Ok, as long as it doesn't interfere with My Boys (which seems to already be a little late....)

Anyone Remember?

The Baby-Sitters Club books?  I don't know what made me think of these out of the blue, but I used to LOVE them.

Well, I started to wonder,  you know, 'where are they now?'   I think I stopped reading the books back around 7th or 8th grade because, you know, I thought I was suddenly too mature and sophisticated.  However, now I wonder what may have went on to happen in this series (where they always seemed to restart 8th grade every year with no explanation offered - I believe these girls spent around 9 Christmases together in a land where time froze).

Anyhow.  I went to the, cough, 'all-knowing' source Wikipedia for some further information.  As always, it looks as though someone (or several someones) have put in a lot of time and effort into the page.  It appears as though the series ended in 2000 (tear) on book 131.  As I looked over the list, I believe in my day, I got up to somewhere around the 90s.

It also appears as though the series is now out of print (?!?!?!) but will soon be reprinted.  I am not sure what this means.  But seriously, what are kids reading these days?!   That Twilight or Harry Potter crap!?  Please!

Anyhow - I always kind of wondered how this series ended (although I highly doubt anything earth-shattering happened).  One thing that I did find kind of interesting - I remember reading somewhere that Ann M. Martin is a lesbian.  I am not sure the accuracy of the source (I think I read it on some blog), however, it made sense considering that I seemed to remember she divulged a decent amount of personal information with respect to her hobbies and childhood, but nothing about her personal life (and as a children's book author, going back fifteen or so years, this clearly could have greatly affected her career).  Hmm.

Anyhow.  Does anyone have any additional information about The BSC or Ann M. Martin that Wiki seems to have missed?  Anyone else love this series like I did?

Is Anyone out there Familiar with Jerry Cantrell?

Or, more specifically, Jerry's album 'The Degradation Trip Volumes 1 & 2'.

Contrary to what one might think; I am not.

Most internet-savvy peeps I know might suggest I refer to the source of all knowledge - especially the useless and obscure - Wikipedia. I did. See here.

Please note the section at the bottom, entitled 'Personnel'. Perhaps now you understand my fascination & interest in this subject. Apparently, my ability to assist knows no bounds!

Does anyone have any contact info for Jerry?! Or, mayhaps, one specific member of his 'personnel'? Please let me know.
