So, random pet peeve - why do some people not have anything in their relationship status on facebook? Especially when their profiles are complete in every other respect. Seriously. I feel like people either a) want to look mysterious or b) are too ashamed to admit they're single (which I personally find to be pathetic).
Now, one can argue that these people have succeeded at being mysterious because people like me have noticed and commented on it. However, here's my take on it: if you're not definitely in a relationship, put single. If you are in a relationship but get in a fight with your significant other, don't change the status unless you definitely break up. If you break up, suck it up and change it back to single (I suppose this opens the door that some of these people cannot yet admit that they've broken up or are insistent that the person who broke up with them will come crawling back). See, this is why I judge people for not having a relationship status - I don't think they're in a 'semi-relationship', I think they're in a state of denial. That, or maybe facebook should come up with some other options: 'regularly hooking up with the same person but I don't want to scare him off with relationship talk' or 'the girl I'm sleeping with will be pissed if I put 'single''. Let's call a spade a spade.

HEY!!! Don't knock my kind!
HAHAHA I wasn't talking about you I swear!!
I had an interesting conversation about this recently... A friend of mine has resorted to leaving her info blank after too many awkward conversations and fights. These incidents were caused by men looking to facebook to define their relationship. After a guy thought they had a good date they would look at her facebook account to see if she had bumped her relationship-o-meter up a notch. When she did not adjust anything it often lead to an annoying conversation or even a fight. She was tired of the drama!!
some people leave that info off because they use facebook as more of a networking device, rather than a vehicle to express details regarding their personal lives. In these instances, in no way is this a reflection of people being "ashamed" of being single. If I'm just looking to connect with old classmates/co-workers, etc, is it really relevant to have my "relationship status" information?
1) Anonymous - please identify yourself.
2) Now, I do understand people use facebook for various different reasons - however - here's my thinking...if you're listing your favorite movies and tv shows, you might as well disclose whether or not you're in a relationship. just sayin'.
