Let It Be Known....

Yesterday, October 5, 2011, around 7pm, I went to start up my mac.  It would not start.  I tried again.  It didn't work.  It appeared as though the battery was completely drained, although, I remember distinctly that the last time I'd used it, it still had a bit of a charge in it.  That, and despite what battery experts might advise, I never let the charge COMPLETELY run out of the battery, so I knew something was highly unusual.

I think this is what is referred to as 'mourning'.  I gave my mac and iphone a little extra loving.  They needed it.

Something I Wish I Knew More About...

...web design, computers, technology, html (whatever that is), C++ (again), javascript (i like coffee), programming, etc.  Is there anywhere in the Chicagoland area to take a class on this?  Just basic stuff.  You know, like 'for dummies', if you will?  I have tried to research this matter and I've been unsuccessful in my findings (some might suggest I would need a class in researching matters on the internet, but those who know me decently might disagree).  Can anyone help?

Slow News Day....

Is anyone else out there having trouble with the new updated safari?  For me, the update came through around this past Tuesday.  It will not work for me.  It is giving me a LOT of trouble.  I do not have the time or energy or desire to go stand in line at Apple and get this fixed.

I am pissed.  All I know is that for the past couple days, I have had to use firefox.  I am an apple person.  I don't do 'firefox'.  Once you go Mac, you never go back.

Can anyone help me get safari back?!?!

Apple vs. PC

So, as you know, I am an Apple user. I am in no way shape or form a computer expert (shh, don't tell my coworkers), however, let me say this:

I bought this apple four and a half years ago. Knock on wood, it has never once had a virus, crashed, or lost anything of value (or, for that matter, anything not of value). Going 'Mac' was a decision based on three factors:

1) I had just acquired an ipod a couple months earlier and I really liked how it operated.
2) I'd had a bad experience with my college computer (every roommate I'd ever had made fun of it - I somehow ended up with a lemon).
3) Honestly, I was impressed with the aesthetics and marketing of Apple. I, as an advertising major, would tell you firsthand that this is not a good reason to buy something, but, I did have some backing with reasons 1 & 2.

Anyhow - as I said earlier, despite the fact that I don't do video-editing or various other Mac-specific activities and that I probably paid $200 more for my computer than say, the PC equivalent, my Mac has given me peace of mind, and one can't put a price on that. I am very happy with my decision and, honestly, I don't forsee myself needing to buy a new computer any time in the next couple years (knock on wood...), but if everything continues as is, my next computer will for sure be a Mac.
