Snow

Why does the city of Chicago freak out every time it snows? Seriously, do we have short term memory? It does this EVERY year - multiple times. It'd be one thing if we were Florida or something like that - THEN maybe a 'ooh, there's going to be six inches of snow tomorrow, what are we going to do?!' would be in order, but to my knowledge - we have resources such as plows, salt, etc. (or at least we should) in preparation for such events. Although, maybe they were cut from the budget, in which case I'm the one talking crazy and we do have reason to panic. Anyhow. Is it just me who doesn't get the reason for the 'OMG SNOW!!!'?

You Probably Think This Post is About you....

In the past 24 hours, I have randomly heard the song 'You're So Vain' at a public place TWICE. Since this song has been referenced on this blog, my blog naturally thinks this occurrence is about it.
Moment of silence for Carly Simon for becoming muzak....

Hum...

So, today at lunch, a friend of mine made a random reference to Eeyore (whilst describing someone's demeanor). It seemed completely random; I have not heard much, if at all, about this guy lately.
I am reminded that one of my good friends picked Eeyore as her favorite of the Winnie the Pooh group.
The funny thing about this guy (or at least, what I know of him), is he seems so sad and downtrodden and generally bummed out that he'd be shocked to know that anyone picked him or even, well, thought of him at all. For this reason (and for the fact that, at times, I share his general outlook), I must say - I kind of like the dude.
What are everyone's thoughts on Eeyore? Anyone else pick him as a favorite?

Lotto Ticket

So the other day, I happened to buy a scratch off lotto ticket (hey, we all have our skeletons in the closet...).
Anyhow, by matching three of a kind out of six, I won a 'free ticket'.
I feel this is symbolic of 'possibilities'. Who knows. That future card I get could be a $250K winner.
Update to come.

Spelling and Grammar Watch....

Continuing on a theme of 'things people don't give a shit about'....
On page 76 of this month's cosmo, the word 'weirdly', is, ahem, 'wierdly' (SIC) spelled....
Wow.
I suppose this is one of the main problems of the written (or should I say 'printed') word....

Should I Start This?

Yoga.
So many people I know are into it. I am flexible (in a literal sense - I can pull my leg up by my head). It might be a little too 'Cumbayah' for my taste. I am freaked out by anything too modern-minded - Zen, Feng Shui, what have you.
However, I kind of think I might be able to branch out and do yoga. It might help me clear my mind out, therefore leaving it open for new possible blog topics to enter it.
Your thoughts? Any yoga enthusiasts out there?

You Can Stand Under My Umbrella....

So it's raining today in Chicago. This is far from unusual.
Now, I have an umbrella. Usually, it is, ironically, sitting in my apartment or car during the burst of a rainstrom. However, there are times I have it with me at just the right time. However...sometimes, it almost doesn't even seem worth it to get it out of my bag. Does anyone else feel this way? It's not as though an umbrella completely protects a person from water - so unless it's a complete and total downpour, or I have plans to stand outside for a long period of time, the umbrella almost doesn't seem worth it. There's times I've walked to the el with my umbrella in my bag and just didn't take it out. Strangers offered to hold their umbrella over me and I felt like a thug because I had mine, I just wasn't into making the effort of pulling it out of my bag and pressing the little button - exhausting, I know. Maybe I have a faulty umbrella with holes in it or something. Hmm.
Anyone else feel the way I do?
Ahh, Toilet Seat Covers!

Ok - so now, let me ask - what's the deal with the paper toilet seat covers? Do people actually use them?
Well, I ask this because I notice in the public bathrooms at my work, people are using them. I hear the paper rustling.
Now, I'm all about being sanitary, especially in a public bathroom. However - do these really make this 'situation' more sanitary? I feel like one accumulates extra germs by touching and placing the toilet seat covers. Anyhow. Some people clearly make use of these EVERY single trip.
Your thoughts? Is this post too gross? Are you considering unsubscribing from this blog after this post?

Just Wondering....

Does anyone (well, over the age of 12) use pencils any more? I saw a couple of boxes of them at work and I couldn't help but wonder....

Irony
On the way home from work, I kept thinking "I should blog tonight, but I don't know if I'll be able think of anything!"

I Missed It!!
This blog passed a milestone recently - it is six months old! September 17 was the big day - I must have been too busy ripping on Obama & Palin to notice....Don't you dare say this ISN'T a big deal. Tons of couples celebrate their 'six month anniversary'. Do you know any new parents who don't make a big deal of their first baby's six month birthday? Yeah, I didn't think so.
This is my baby - I am celebrating it and talking about it like an obnoxious new parent. Well, the new parent who accidentally leaves her kid in the grocery store, seeing this is a 'belated' six months. It's my first blog. Let's all hope it's like wine and gets better with age.
