Kate Middleton.  Not on her wedding day, when that bitch Pippa stole the show.  On the day when she wore that blue dress when she got all that publicity for finally getting engaged.  

How Old Is Too Old To Trick-or-Treat?

My mom told me to today that she had a trick-or-treater in the 20+ crowd today.  My mom felt she was too old to be trick-or-treating.

I remember when I was around 8, my mom commented that the our neighbor (a different one) was trick-or-treating as an 8th grader - she felt this was too old.  I made sure to make her eat these words.  I think I trick-or-treated at the beginning of high school - and I know plenty of my peers did.  I overheard some people talking today about trick-or-treating in college.

What are your thoughts?  How old is too old?

I'm Booked!

So, this Halloween, I will be going on a trolley party. I love trolley parties. This will be my fifth in the past year and a half. I think I'm going for the world record for number of trolley parties. I, singlehandedly, am working to keep the trolley industry in business.

Anyhow.

As I've said before, I need a Halloween costume. Not just costume. A WINNER. Pam and Palin were grand slams out of the park. No one has made any suggestions for me so far. I am thoroughly, thoroughly disappointed.

Now accepting Halloween costume ideas.

An Important Holiday is Coming....

...quite possibly my favorite holiday, well, after Christmas. And my birthday. And April Fools' Day. And Black Wednesday. Anyhow.

Halloween. I LOVE dressing up for Halloween. It's the best. I'm like an overgrown kid. Whatever.

Two years ago, I was Pam from NBC's the office. Last year, I was Sarah Palin. Both were huge hits, let me tell you. This year, I can't be off my A-Game. I need another grand slam.

I am now taking suggestions. I have two ideas, but I don't think either of them will be the success that the previous two were.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

My Fellow Americans....

So, as you know, this past Halloween I went with quite possibly my scariest costume to date. 

 

So, the strangest thing ever.   While I was out for Halloween, a couple strangers took a picture with me because they found my costume to be funny.  

So today, I get an e-mail notification that a girl I went to college with tagged photos of me on facebook.  I haven't seen this girl in probably over a year and a half, so I assumed she must have been uploading some really old photos.  

But when I checked - alas, no!  It was pictures from Halloween!!  Apparently some of the guys who took pictures with me are friends of hers and had uploaded the photos and she recognized me in them!  Since they didn't know me personally, they tagged me as "the GOP VP candidate". 

Thanks Alice Moy for the photo tagging and thanks Neil Ackerman for saying I was second only to Tina Fey - if you have any debate questions for me, I'd be more than happy to answer.  I can see Russia from my house!

Help!!

Where might I get a McCain/Palin pin?  Or a flag pin?  I tried the grocery store and Walgreens with no luck.   Where do people get political things like this?  I need to buy it tomorrow - I dropped the ball on this one (so ordering online is not an option...).

I'd Like To Thank...

...Sarah Palin for wearing all black at the VP Debate - she has made my Halloween costume so much easier.  I do not own a red or creme color blazer, as she has appeared in public in before, and I did not intend to buy one.  However, this will be quite simple now.  I just need a nifty beaded flag pin like that and I'll be all set.  :-)

Vampires

Ok, question here:  What's with the vampires lately?!?  The HBO True Blood Series, the Stephenie Meyer book series (which is apparently the new Harry Potter with the youngins),  some upcoming movies, etc.  

I know I'm not the first to make this observation or ask the simple question:  why?  Vampires aren't a new concept at all...why are they suddenly appealing/sexy/interesting/popular/whatever the heck they are?

Does anyone else remember when pirates were a big deal like 4-5 years ago?  People were all excited about 'talk like a pirate day'?   Tons of people were pirates for Halloween (hmm...).  I guess vampires are the new pirates.  

Although one would might suggest that one work showcased a vampire and the idea caught on - what about all the ideas that don't catch on?  Hmm.   Anyone out there interested in/excited about vampires?  Praytell...why???

Halloween

So last year at my work, we were told we could 'dress up' for Halloween - in fact it was encouraged.   Let me tell you, there are limited, um, let's call them 'work appropriate' halloween costumes for women my age.   And that didn't stop some women I worked with from going all out....

Anyhow, it might not be easy to tell from the pictures, but I was Pam Beasley from NBC's "The Office".   I curled my hair and wore half of it back like she does and dressed in her typical garb (sweater, button down shirt, skirt).   It was quick, cheap, and to be quite frank - very last-minute.   

However, it was successful!  A good amount of people recognized and appreciated the costume.  Considering my actual job in my 'office' - it was what I like to call 'subtle humor'.  

Since I hadn't put much thought into the costume ahead of time - this year I was thinking of repeating 'the Pam', but putting more detail into it (maybe a Dunder Mifflin nametag - even though she doesn't wear that, maybe some keds a la the second season Dundies).  

However, another idea recently emerged.  There's another woman out there whom I could easily emulate with a few basic details (hair, makeup, clothing, etc.).  Another woman who would be familiar and could easily be appreciated by many.  I don't want to tip my cards too soon - however, I think a loyal blog reader could figure out the woman I have in mind.  

So, I'm leaving it up to you, dear reader - I'm hoping to get some votes.  Pam Beasley or the other choice?  Which would be better?  More interesting?  Less common?  I'd like to hear your opinion....
